She also recently completed basic training in EMDR therapy (eye movement desensitization reprocessing). This therapy approach is an integrative psychotherapy approach that has been extensively researched for the treatment of trauma and psychological distress. She has begun the advanced EMDR training and certification process.
Along with EMDR, Gina uses other psychotherapy approaches such cognitive behavioral, motivational interviewing and solution focused therapeutic approaches. She uses an eclectic approach to help each client move forward through their pain and heal.
Gina recently chose to delve into private practice so she can have more therapeutic freedom to help people heal. Her personal life and professional experiences have given her an insight and the ability to relate and connect to people on a deep level. Her goal is to quit her agency job and do private practice full time. She has many plans and ideas for different group therapy programs such as an intensive outpatient program (IOP) for chemical dependency, programs for domestic violence, and sexual abuse.
Gina is now taking different insurances and is taking steps to starting an IOP for Lenawee County.
